For once, this FCA-product-related mess isn’t Mergio’s fault. Seen in the February 2018 issue of Car and Driver, came yesterday and only had time to read/skim it today. I’m in it for the pictures and specs :P

To be fair, those are basically the same van.

To be fair, they’re all the same van. Grumble grumble shitty Chrysler products....something something stuck in a ditch, blown radiator, etc...

Holy Jesus Chrysler only makes two vehicles right now, the 300 and Pacifica.

We had a Gen 3—i mean, 4, T&C that tried to kill us at every chance, until it said, “you know what screw this and this world” and blew it’s radiator along with some other stuff and yeah. But I still miss it dearly.
![]() 01/24/2018 at 18:44 |

Yeah, but the Gen 3 & 4 in particular are from the DiamlerChrysler era of “Let’s just facelift this 10-year-old car instead of replacing it”.
Although that’s exactly what they did once Fiat bought them too...

Aren’t Gen 5 and 6 both available now as Ram and Pacifica? I assume that’s what you’re pointing to.

Mhm, yep. Totally.

Ok so I guess I haven’t been paying attention to FCA’s name games. According to Wikipedia :
FCA unveiled the Chrysler Pacifica, a new crossover minivan for the 2017 model year, at the 2016 North American International Auto Show. The Pacifica replaced the Chrysler Town & Country, but it was originally stated that the 2016 model of the Dodge Caravan would be produced for one more model year as a lower-cost alternative to the Pacifica, before being discontinued. In January 2017, FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne stated that it was not clear if the Caravan would be discontinued, and that they would have to look into offering “some level of affordable access to the Pacifica at the lower end to try and replace the outgoing models”.
So they’re just ignoring the difference between a crossover and a minivan, and giving the 6th-gen Town & Caravan the name
Pacifica
? Geez, this reminds me of the whole
Lumina
mess...

At least this time they look nothing alike either way.

Time to abandon Chrysler and go all-in on Lancia

Our ‘93 Caravan was dead reliable. Never let us down once, and the only time it did was from the fuel pump going and it conveniently went in such a place we were able to limp it to the dealership on our way somewhere and the pump died 100m from the dealership and we coasted into the lot, haha!

My parents had a first gen.
one time in heavy traffic going like 15 mph in a straight line, my mom spun it on the freeway.
I honestly have no idea how it happened (oil slick? No ABS? It was raining heavily) but we did a complete 180 while staying entirely in our lane and not hitting anyone. After that came the only time i’ve ever been in a vehicle making a 3 point turn from the middle lane on a crowded freeway.

I say screw the current budget and put it all into making a modern V4 Lancia Fulvia.

It’s a Chrysler minivan thing.

I was going to write in to mention they switched their little blueprint pictures on gens 3 and 4. That’s why you posted this, right?

My grandfather had the gen 3 and my parents had a gen 4.
They also got the drawings for the gen 3 and gen 4 mixed up.
